Hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge to Naxi Family Guest House, Yunnan

Hiking Tiger Leaping Gorge in Yunnan, China, about half-way between Lijiang and Zhongdian, is a wonderful experience. It can be done in one day and most trekkers do so. The scenery high above the Yangtze River is quite spectacular, however, hence why not to trek the gorge in two days. The first night is ideally spent at the Naxi Family Guest House, some three hours from where the trek begins. It makes the second day much easier, not to mention that spending a night at the Naxi family Guest House should not be missed. The people are very friendly and the meals are very delicious. Most tourists to Yunnan admire Tiger Leaping Gorge only from a viewpoint on the “lower road” right near the proverbial "leaping stone" half way across the narrow point of the river. It is trekking the High Road that one gets to marvel at the granite cliffs towering above the gorge and admire the impressive scenery of the gorge in its entirety.
